The VTMF Series Rotary Index Table Servo Trunnion was engineered to satisfy the needs of the 21st century industrial manufacturing environment: fast, strong, reliable, high quality and cost effective. The VTMF Series programmable rotary indexing trunnion features a cast housing that is compact and has all the characteristics a manufacturer looks for: large center thru-hole for running utilities and mounting equipment, a compact housing to save on floor space and improve design flexibility, a completely sealed housing for mounting the unit on its side, and a large rotating diameter for increased mounting surface.

The VTMF Series Rotary Index Table Servo Trunnion was designed to be a completely programmable solution. This allows for a minimum of 4 oversized cam followers to be engaged with the barrel cam at all times. This programmable rotary indexing trunnion is driven directly by a gear reducer coupled to either an AC motor with encoder or servo motor. Both options provide very high accuracy (less than 10 arc seconds) and allow for the indexer to be driven by a dedicated amplifier or as an auxiliary axis to a robot drive. Loading capabilities are multiplied significantly in this line of indexers through the design of the barrel cam and cam followers. This unique design allows for unprecedented inertial load as a function of index time capacity.

  • The main axis uses a TMF1000 cam-operated programmable indexer, and the secondary axis uses a RT250 barrel cam-operated indexer provide zero backlash and high precision.
  • Combined accuracy of +/- 21 arc seconds from the cam indexers ensures a highly consistent weld, crucial for quality control in automated welding environments.
  • The cam indexers are fully sealed design allows for operation in vertical and upside-down orientations, enhancing versatility.

Features

  • Driven by the programmable VTMF1000 rotary indexer, achieving very low positional accuracies in single digit arc seconds with low backlash servo reducers.
  • One set of trunnions will be driven by an Aux Axis servo motor and controlled by the robot controller. The second set of trunnions will be driven by a Gearmotor with brake and encoder.
  • The front of the headstock is designed with a cable management system, this allows the customer to run the utilities through the cable carrier, and out to the fixture. In this design the Grounding will be passed through the center thru hole of the indexer.
  • The Headstock is also comprised of a “Lock-out” mechanism for operator or maintenance personnel safety.
  • A home prox switch was included in the design as well as overtravel switch protection. The overtravel switch protects the cable management system from wrapping itself up on the spool too far or unwrap the other way past fully extended.
  • Both the head stock and tail stock are supported by heavy duty tubular structure frame weldments.
